Indian Premier League ( IPL )

2008 IPL
commenced on the 18 April 2008 with the final match held on 1 June 2008






Each of the 8 teams played a home match and an away match against every other team. These matches were followed by two semi-finals and a final 




Tournament Results

Rajasthan Royals defeated Chennai Super Kings in the final to win the title.
Yusuf Pathan named the player of the finals match for his 56(39) and 3/22(4overs)
 Shane Watson adjudged the player of the tournament for scoring 472 Runs and taking 17 Wickets in 15 Matches
 Sohail Tanvir won the Purple cap for being the top wicket-taking bowler (22 Wickets in 11 Matches)and
 Shaun Marsh won the Orange cap for leading run-scorer (616 Runs in 11 Matches)in the tournament

CSK scored 116 for 1 in 14.5 overs
CSK Won by 9 Wickets


Finals @ DY Patil Stadium Navi Mumbai on 01.06.2008
CSk scored 163 for 5 in 20 overs and
RR scored 164 for 7 in 20 overs
RR Won by 3 Wickets

2009 IPL


The tournament was hosted by South Africa and was played between 18 April and 24 May 2009




BCCI decided to host the second season of the league outside India,because the second season of the IPL coincided with multi-phase 2009 Indian general elections, the Government of Indiarefused to commit security by Indian paramilitary forces.
