US House Intelligence Committee impeachment report describes 'overwhelming' evidence of Donald Trump's misconduct Tuesday Dec 02,2019

House Democrats' new impeachment report accuses President Trump of having abused his power while seeking politically-motivated investigations from Ukraine and engaging in "an unprecedented campaign of obstruction."

The report released by the House Intelligence Committee on Tuesday Dec 02,2019 comes after the panel concluded its recent public hearings in the impeachment inquiry, which has focused on whether Trump improperly pressured Ukraine to conduct investigations that he thought would benefit him politically.

Trump, the impeachment report says, "personally and acting through agents within and outside of the U.S. government, solicited the interference of a foreign government, Ukraine, to benefit his reelection," conditioning "official acts" on Ukraine announcing "politically-motivated" investigations, including involving former Vice President Joe Biden.

"The evidence of the president's misconduct is overwhelming, and so too is the evidence of his obstruction of Congress," the report said. "Indeed, it would be hard to imagine a stronger or more complete case of obstruction than that demonstrated by the president since the inquiry began."

The committee's impeachment report is being sent to the House Judiciary Committee, which will hold its first hearing in the inquiry on Wednesday Dec 04,2019
