Lok Sabha Approves Repealing Special Status To J&K Tuesday Aug 06,2019

Home Minister Amit Shah  moved the resolution to revoke Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, in Lok Sabha.



He also introduced Jammu and Kashmir (Reorganisation) Bill, 2019 in the Lower House of Parliament.


A resolution removing the special status of the state under Article 370 was approved by the Rajya Sabha on Monday Aug 05,2019





The Lok Sabha on Tuesday Aug 06,2019 passed the Jammu and Kashmir (Reorganisation) Bill, 2019 with 370 votes in favour and 70 against it.

Having already been passed in the Upper House, the bill now awaits Presidential assent before becoming an Act.

The Jammu and Kashmir (Reorganisation) Bill, 2019 strips Jammu and Kashmir's status of a state and converts it into two Union Territories - Jammu and Kashmir with a legislature and Ladakh without legislature.

Lok Sabha approved abrogation of special status given to Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370.





 The resolution was passed in Lok Sabha by division of votes with 351 members in support and 72 against it while one member abstained.
