Kia Motors's first 'Made in India' SUV Seltos launch this month Aug'19


South Korean auto major Kia Motors's first 'Made in India' car, SUV Seltos, will be officially launched this month from its plant in Andhra Pradesh's Anantapur district. 



The company has invited Andhra Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for the launch of its first 'Made in India' car at the factory in Penukonda. 

 




Currently, the $1.1 billion manufacturing facility is doing trial production and is expected to produce approximately 300,000 units per year.


  

5 things to know about Kia's New SUV Seltos

1) Kia has already received around 23,000 bookings for Seltos which is expected to be priced between 11 lakh and 17 lakh. The BS-VI compliant car will come in petrol and diesel engine options with three automatic transmission variants and a six-speed manual transmission version

2) Although the automaker's Andhra facility is meant for India production primarily, Kia Motors is also looking at exporting cars to South Africa, South America and South Asian countries from Anantpur

3) The state-of-the-art facility, which came up on 536 acres of land in a record time of 14 months, will manufacture 300,000 vehicles annually with the bulk of the capacity catering to domestic market.

4) Kia plans to expand its portfolio by launching a new car in every six to nine months, lining at least five vehicles by 2021

5) In terms of interiors and creature comforts, Kia said the top variant will get an eight-speaker Bose system, 10.25-inch infotainment system, 7-inch MID, an HUD and a 360-degree camera.
