2019 ICC World Cup in England & Wales May 30 to July 14,2019 - Match 09 Bangladesh Vs New Zealand @The Oval Wednesday June 05,2019

This is the second day-night match of this World Cup. The first, Australia's game against Afghanistan, was over well before darkness set in. Let's hope this one goes the distance.

In contrasting manners, New Zealand and Bangladesh delivered two comprehensive victories in their opening matches of this tournament.

In Cardiff, New Zealand blew Sri Lanka away with the pace of Matt Henry and Lockie Ferguson, registering a victory within just 45.3 overs of play, whilst

Bangladesh out-fought and out-thought South Africa in a far better game at The Oval, registering a famous win on the back of some excellent batting and dogged bowling.

New Zealand certainly will, looking to burnish a fine recent record against Bangladesh.

The teams have played 9 games since the last World Cup and Kane Williamson's men have won 7 of them, including the three-nil clean sweep they registered when the two teams locked horns in New Zealand earlier this year.

The last time the two teams met in tournament cricket, however, Bangladesh emerged on top, beating New Zealand by five wickets in Cardiff during the 2017 Champions Trophy.

New Zealand survived a dramatic late fightback by Bangladesh to pull off a nervy two-wicket win in their World Cup clash at the Oval on Wednesday.

MOM Ross Taylor scored a 91-ball 82 before a clatter of wickets gave Bangladesh the chance to pull off a shock win.

New Zealand slumped from 160/2 to 218/7, with off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz dismissing Williamson (40) and Tom Latham (0) in the same over before Hossain accounted for Jimmy Neesham (25).

It needed a 20-run eighth-wicket stand between Mitchell Santner (17 not out) and Matt Henry (six) to bring the target down to seven required in a highly tense atmosphere

Lockie Ferguson (4 not out) and Santner hit a boundary each to seal the win.
