2018 Telangana Assembly Election - 106 out of 119 newly elected MLAs in Telangana are crorepatis Tuesday Dec 11,2018

Telangana voters have elected more than half MLAs to the new assembly with pending criminal cases this time. Close to 90 per cent newly elected MLAs are crorepatis

Telangana Election Watch and Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) has analyzed the self-sworn affidavits of all the 119 newly elected MLAs in the Telangana 2018 Assembly Elections



Here are the big takeaways from the ADR report

Out of the 119 MLAs analysed, 73 (61 per cent) have declared criminal cases against themselves. 47 (40 per cent) MLAs have declared serious criminal cases including cases related to attempt to murder, a crime against women, etc.

In 2014 Telangana Assembly elections, out of the 119 MLAs analysed, 67 (56 per cent) MLAs declared criminal cases against themselves. Also, 46 (39 per cent) MLAs declared serious criminal cases against themselves.

While seven MLAs have declared cases related to attempt to murder (IPC Section 307), three MLAs have declared cases related to crime against women such as assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty (IPC Section-354)
Also, 50 (57 per cent) out of 88 MLAs from TRS, 14 (74 per cent) out of 19 MLAs from INC, 6(86 per cent) out of 7 MLAs from AIMIM, 2 (100 per cent) MLAs from TDP and 1 (100 per cent) from BJP MLAs have declared criminal cases against themselves in their affidavits
