India beat West Indies by 9 wickets, claim series 3-1

So promising across the first three ODIs, West Indies' batting unravelled when a share of the series was still up for grabs. Having been bowled out for 153 on a flat Brabourne deck in the fourth ODI, the visitors did even worse on a trickier pitch in Thiruvananthapuram, folding for 104 after choosing to bat first.

West Indies were bowled out in 31.5 overs, and India hunted down their target in a mere 14.5, as Rohit Sharma stroked an unbeaten 63 off 56 balls, adding an unbroken 99 for the second wicket with Kohli. Rohit hit four sixes - all clean hits, as they needed to be on one of the larger grounds in India - to become only the second India batsman to get past 200 sixes in ODIs.

Virat Kohli claims 7th Man of the Series award, equals Sourav Ganguly

Virat Kohli added another accolade to his illustrious career as he claimed his seventh Man of the Series award to equal the record held jointly by Sourav Ganguly and Yuvraj Singh after India defeated West Indies in the fifth ODI encounter to clinch the five-match series 2-1 in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday Nov 01,2018

While Virat is now tied with the likes of Viv Richards and Ricky Ponting, only Sachin Tendulkar, Sanath Jayasuriya and Shaun Pollock are ahead of him with 15, 11 and 9 awards respectively.

Kohli was in a brilliant form during the recently concluded ODI series and with 453 runs in five matches, he was unarguably the best choice to claim the Man of the Series award.

Rohit Sharma becomes the 2nd highest run scorer in ODI's in 2018

Rohit Sharma surpassed England batsman Jonny Bairstow to become the second highest run-scorer in 2018 during India’s fifth ODI encounter against West Indies in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday.

Rohit, who scored an unbeaten 63 to guide his team to victory, is currently on 1030 runs with Bairstow in the third position with 1025. The top spot belongs to Indian cricket team skipper Virat Kohli who has scores 1202 runs with an average of 133.55.
