Volvo to launch in India S90 on Friday Nov 04,2016


Volvo will introduce its next offering, the S90 luxury sedan in the Indian market on Friday Nov 04,2016

The S90 will replace the S80 and will join the current line-up of S60, V40, S60 Cross Country, V40 Cross Country, XC60 and the XC90.

This will mark Volvo's entry into a new segment, that is presently dominated by Germans.

The car will be offered in a single variant, which will offer all features and technologies as standard equipment.

The S90 design is based on Volvo's Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform and is powered by a 2.0 litre four cylinder E drive turbocharged diesel engine, that produces 190 hp of power and 400 Nm of torque.

The engine is mated to an 8-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. On the exterior, the luxury sedan gets Thor's Hammer LED lights at the front and 'C' shaped LED lights at rear.

In the cabin, the car features a premium audio system from Bowers and Wilkins, Nappa leather seat upholstery and infotainment system with iPad compatibility.

In terms of technology, the S90 get loaded with Clean zone technology which helps in filtering dust and particles inside the cabin. In addition to this it also gets safety features like in XC90 such as pilot assist, park assist, city safety and Large animal detection technology.

It is expected that Volvo will launch the S90 at a price of around Rs 55 lakh, ex-showroom. The Volvo S90 will compete with the BMW 5 series, Audi A6, Mercedes-Benz E-class and the Jaguar XF in its segment.
