IBM has acquired Sanovi Technologies, a bangalore-based privately held company that provides cloud computing services.
The financial terms for the deal was not disclosed. Sanovi, founded in
2003, provides backup software technologies to global enterprises, as
most of them seek to have their IT infrastructure backed up in case of
any problem and due to regulatory overhang.
Upon closure, which is expected by the end of 2016, IBM plans to
integrate the Sanovi capabilities into the IBM Global Technology
Services unit, according to a company statement.
Martin Jetter, Senior Vice President, Global Technology Services, IBM
said: “As a cloud-native company, Sanovi will strengthen our resiliency
portfolio to manage the range of applications, data, and IT systems of
our clients balancing digital and hybrid cloud transformation with
increased regulatory compliance.
This is the first acquisition made by IBM since it acquired Daksh, a BPO
company in 2004. IBM operates over 300 global delivery data centres and
46 IBM cloud data centres across 68 countries.
