As many as 6,697 people, including students, pledged their organs at an
organ donation event held in Dindigul in Tamil Nadu on Tuesday, in an
attempt to set a world record.
Rotary International District 3000 and the PSNA College for Engineering and Technology jointly organised the event to set a Guinness World Record.
The 6,697 people who pledged their organs included 3,000 students and staff members from PSNA College of Engineering and Technology. The remaining were from SSM Engineering College, NPR College of Engineering and Parvathy's Arts and Science College, said the PSNA associate professor S Jayaraman.
S Kennedy Leo of Rotary International said the existing world record was set in the Philippines where 3,548 people pledged their organs in an hour on February 28,2014
