2016 India Vs West Indies First T20 @ Central Broward Regional Park and Stadium in Lauderhill, Florida ,USA Saturday Aug 27,2016

West Indies faces India in two Twenty20 internationals in Florida at the weekend in a litmus test for both cricket's future in the US and Carlos Brathwaite's credentials as Caribbean skipper

Saturday and Sunday's back-to-back fixtures come at a crucial time for the West Indies.

They may be the reigning world champions in the format having triumphed in India earlier this year, but that didn't save Darren Sammy's job as skipper.

Darren Sammy was sacked in what he claimed was a “30-second phone call” and replaced by Brathwaite who etched his name into West Indies cricket folklore by smashing four sixes in the final over against England to win this year's World T20 final in Mumbai.

“I think a team like this will be pretty easy to lead, from the point of view that the dressing room is a fun place to be,” said Brathwaite.

“I don't think it's a case where I have to negotiate too many egos.”

His first job will be to introduce stability into the engaging but often frustrating nature of West Indies' short-form cricket — before they won their second World T20 in four years, they lost to Afghanistan in the qualifying round.

Despite his heroics in Mumbai, 28-year-old Brathwaite is a lightweight when it comes to international experience, having played just three Tests, 14 ODIs and eight Twenty 20s.

In contrast, the team's superstar Chris Gayle has 103 Tests, 269 ODIs and 50 T20s to his name as well as a host of batting records.

Paytm is title sponsor for India-WI T20 matches in USA

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has awarded the title sponsorship for the two T20 international matches between India and West Indies to be played in Florida, USA to mobile payments and e-commerce platform Paytm.

The two games will be played on August 27 and August 28,2016 at the Central Broward Regional Park, Fort Lauderdale.

“We are delighted to extend our association with Paytm. This will further strengthen partnership with our existing partner and is a testimony to the fact that our partners believe in BCCI’s initiative of reaching out to newer audiences and markets,” Anurag Thakur, BCCI President said.

West Indies beat India by one run in a thrilling Twenty20 that saw a record 489 runs and 32 sixes

Evin Lewis smashed a 48-ball century and Johnson Charles scored 79 off 33 deliveries in West Indies' 245-6 in the series opener in Lauderhill, Florida.
KL Rahul led India's reply with an unbeaten 110 - his 46-ball hundred was the joint second fastest in T20s.
But Dwayne Bravo had MS Dhoni caught at short third man off the final ball of the match to seal a remarkable victory.

Evin Lewis, the 24-year-old left-handed opener playing only his second international match, took 32 off a Stuart Binny over that included 6x5, the joint second most expensive over in T20s.
