ITC appoints Sanjiv Puri as COO Monday July 25,2016

 

Kolkata-based diversified conglomerate ITC Ltd, on Monday July 25,2016, named Sanjiv Puri as Chief Operating Officer of the company, thereby, making clear his elevation as successor to chairman Y C Deveshwar. 

Y C Deveshwar, currently the longest serving Executive Chairman is set to step down from his executive role – after 21 years at the helm – in February 2017. He will continue as a non-executive chairman for three years. 

In a filing with the stock exchanges, the company said Puri, wholetime director, was being “redesignated” Chief Operating Officer with immediate effect. Puri was a wholetime director of the company. 

“ITC Ltd has informed the BSE that the board of directors at the meeting held on July 22, 2016, redesignated Sanjiv Puri, Wholetime Director, also as Chief Operating Officer of the company with immediate effect,” the notice read.
