2013 Armenian Presidential Election - Feb 18,2013


President Serzh Sarkisian and seven other candidates were formally registered  to run in Armenia’s upcoming presidential election


President Serzh Sarkisian and seven other candidates were formally registered on Monday to run in Armenia’s upcoming presidential election

The campaign will start on January 21, 2013 and will end on February 16. February 17 is an election silence day.

Presidential Candidates

 

1)Serzh Azati Sargsyan(Republic Party)Incumbent President


2)Raffi Hovannisian(Heritage Party)

 

3)Paruyr Hayrikyan(Union for Self-Determination Party)

 

4)Hrant Bagratyan(Freedom Party)&PM during 1993-96

Former Prime Minister Hrant Bagratian and Former Foreign Minister Raffi Hovannisian, are widely expected to be Sarkisian’s main challengers

The candidates also includes -

5)Arman Melikian, Nagorno-Karabakh’s former foreign minister, and Aram Harutiunian, a university professor. 

6)Andreas Ghukasian is a political analyst managing a private radio station based in Yerevan

7)Vartan Sedrakian and 

 8)Aram Harutyunyan( National Conciliation Party )

Arman Melikian and Paruyr Harutiunian took part in 2008 presidential elections, polling less than 1% of the vote

 Presidential Candidate Shot - Jan 31,2013

On January 31, 2013, just before midnight, Presidential candidateParuyr Hayrikyan was shot in his right clavicle
