Jaipur Literature Festival -Jan 24-28,2013


The DSC Jaipur Literature Festival is an annual literary festival taking place in Jaipur,Rajastan,India since 2006 and is being held in January every year at the Diggi Palace Hotel, usually in the Hall of Audience and gardens of the Diggi Palace in the city centre, and celebrates excellence in Rajasthani, Indian and International writing.
 



The festival directors are the writers Namita Gokhale and William Dalrymple and is produced by Sanjoy Roy of Teamwork Productions.

2013 DSC Jaipur Literature Festival - Jan 24 -28 ,2013

This year is the 8th edition of the festival .The DSC Jaipur Literature Festival – the confluence of ideas, culture and literature – opens today Jan 24,2013

The festival is to start formally at the Diggi Palace lawns with renowned Bengali writer Mahashweta Devi’s keynote address ‘Oh! To Live Again’

The five day long festival is to see ‘Buddha in Literature’ – a spiritual slant that is a huge attraction this time around.


 Governor of Rajasthan Margaret Alva delivered a speech on humanity and writers playing a vital role to bring a change in the society



His Holiness The Dalai Lama attended the literary extravaganza
During the session 'Remembering Sunil Da', there were readings by actress Sharmila Tagore, tributes by Aruna Chakravarti, Arunava Sinha and Amit Chaudhuri and it was moderated by Malashri Lal
