Indian Origin Nurse who took hoax call on Kate William found dead


Jacintha Saldhana (46),a nurse who took a hoax call from two Australian DJs about the condition of Kate William, the Duchess of Cambridge, while she was being treated at King Edward VII Hospital here, was  found dead in her house in a suspected suicide on Friday Dec 7,2012.


Jacintha Saldhana was on reception duty when she answered the prank call at 5.30 a.m. on Wednesday. She transferred the call to another nurse. The latter unwittingly disclosed the details of the Duchess’ condition — she was being treated for pregnancy-related sickness — to the DJs pretending to be the Queen and Prince Charles.

Hoax Call DJs Taken Off The Air - Saturday Dec 8,2012


The two Australian radio presenters behind the hoax call that led to the death of Jacintha Saldhana, an Indian-origin nurse of King Edward VII hospital here, were taken off the air on Saturday amid a growing public backlash against their employer — the Sydney-based 2DayFM station — and a strong formal protest by the hospital which called their action “truly appalling.
Rhys Holleran, the Chief Executive of the company that owns the station, announced that -

Australian DJs Apologise for Hoax Call

 

2DayFM radio DJs Mel Greig and Michael Christian have faced worldwide outrage over the hoax. They spoke publicly about the prank for the first time on Monday Dec 10,2012 in a televised interview with Australia’s “A Current Affair.”
Nurse Jacintha Saldanha answered the phone last week when the pair called, impersonating Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles. They received and broadcast confidential information about the duchess’s medical conditio
