Also the entire BJP unit from Yeddyurappa's assembly constituency Shikaripura in Shimoga district has quit to join his new party

Yeddyurappa said that the BJP stabbed him in the back.
"Some of our state leaders stabbed me in the back. So many things have happened, I tolerated everything for one year. Finally I took the decision to float a new party," Yeddyurappa said.

 BSY and BJP in Karnataka
From being BJP's only MLA 25 years ago to BJP's first chief minister in the South, the powerful public orator and political organiser almost single-handedly built the saffron party in Karnataka over 30 years.BJP won 18 seats in the 1983 Karnataka Assembly polls and Yeddyurappa was one among them.In the 1985 Assembly Polls, only two BJP MLAs managed to return to the Assembly and the other MLA defected to Janata Party and Yeddyurappa became BJP's lone MLA in the state. In the 1989 Assembly Polls,Yeddyurappa-led BJP won four Assembly seats while the Congress swept the polls with 181 seats.Yeddyurappa-led BJP increased its tally in the state assembly from just four to 44 in the 1994 Assembly Polls. In the 2004 assembly polls, Yeddyurappa-led BJP became the single largest party with 79 seats. But, Congress with 64 seats and JDS with 58 seats came together to form a coalition government, that lasted for just 20 months.
Under him, BJP won 4 Lok Sabha seats in the 1991 General Elections opening its account in the South for the first time. Also under him,BJP won 13 Lok Sabha seats from Karnataka in the 1998 general elections.

BSY got his first taste of power in 2006 to occupy coveted seats on the treasury benches, first as Deputy Chief Minister in a JDS-BJP coalition government and 20 months later, as Chief Minister for just seven days before he was toppled by the Gowdas.

Riding on a sympathy wave, Yeddyurappa led BJP to a spectacular victory in the 2008 assembly polls.A year after he took charge,Scams in all sectors, from mining to land grants, became a regular feature. Never-ending internal rebellions further spoiled his party.BSY finally quit as chief minister in July 2011.

BSY is now on his own with a plan to fight the coming assembly polls under the new Karnataka Janata Party (KJP).
