Nepal Plane Crash - Monday May 14,2012

Carrying 21 people, the Dornier aircraft belonging to the Agni Air crashed when it hit a hilltop near Pokhara while returning to the Jomsom airport, killing 13 passengers on Monday May 14,2012.


Pilot PS Pathak and co-pilot SD Maharjan died on the spot.

The local police said that it crashed while trying to land at the high altitude Jomsom Airport, which is a gateway to a popular tourist and trekking destination.

Eight people on board, including the three crew members and four Indians, have been rescued alive from the crash site.Survivors in critical condition were flown by helicopter to the nearby city of Pokhara for treatment.




 Indian child artist Taruni Sachdev was among those who died in the Nepal plane crash on Monday. The 14-year-old had a cameo in the Amitabh Bachchan-starrer 'Paa' and acted in numerous southern language films.
She had also featured in over 50 commercials, including one with Karishma Kapoor. Taruni's mother who was accompanying her on the flight also died in the crash.
