Bajaj Auto launches quadricycle named ‘Qute’Friday Sep 25,2015

Bajaj Auto on Friday launched its much-awaited RE60 quadricycle, which has been named ‘Qute’, at a free-on-board (FoB) price tag of $2,000 (around ₹1.35 lakh). 

Qute is powered by an all new water-cooled DTSi, four-valve 217cc engine that has a fuel economy of 36 kmpl and a maximum speed of 70km per hour

The vehicle recently got the European Whole Vehicle Type Approval (WVTA) certificate awarded by RDW Netherlands, meeting the European quadricycle norms. “With Qute, we are now raising the bar and ushering in a new transportation solution that is cleaner, safer and more comfortable. Our partners across Asia, Africa, Latin America and Europe are excited about the growth opportunities that Qute can bring for us,” Rakesh Sharma, President, International Business, Bajaj Auto, said

The vehicle is meant only for export markets for now, as the regulations for India are not yet in place because of an ongoing public interest litigation in the Supreme Court. 

The vehicle will be shipped to 16 countries, including Turkey, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Bangladesh, Kenya, Peru and Ecuador, starting early next month and will start with around 100 units initially.

Google Launches New Chromecast and Chromecast Audio

Google has announced two new Chromecast streaming gadgets, one for streaming video and photos to a TV, and one for streaming music to any standard speakers.

An update to the original Chromecast, which has sold over 20m devices, the new video version receives streams over Wi-Fi using Google’s Cast protocol from compatible apps running on an Android or iPhone or a computer.
The new Chromecast for the TV is a circular puck shape and plugs into the HDMI slot on a television via an integrated short, flat HDMI cable The new Chromecast will be available in three colours and has a magnet that attaches the HDMI cable to the puck for storage

 

Priced at $35 (roughly Rs. 2,300), the Chromecast Audio allows one to stream music to their regular speakers directly from a smartphone or laptop

It supports high-quality audio, 2 watt RMS and an optional optical digital out that sits in the hybrid port. The company said that the Chromecast Audio doesn't compress audio, assuring the audiophile inside you that the device wouldn't compromise on audio quality. 

It works with Android and iOS devices, apart from PCs. 

The Chromecast Audio also comes with a feature called guest access, allowing your friends to stream even if they are not connected to your Wi-Fi network.

Kelly Gissendaner becomes the first woman to be executed in 70 years in Georgia,USA Wednesday Sep 30,2015

The only woman Georgia's death row has been executed after US and Georgia Supreme Courts on Tuesday night denied several appeals to stop the lethal injection.

Kelly Renee Gissendaner was pronounced dead by lethal injection at 12.21am on Wednesday after court delays left the 47-year-old sitting in a holding room between her cell and the execution gurney for several hours.

Gissendaner, who was scheduled to be executed on Tuesday evening at the state prison in Jackson, was convicted of murder in the February 1997 slaying of her husband. She conspired with her lover, who stabbed Douglas Gissendaner to death.

The main talking point for the Pixel C though is the full-size Smart Keyboard which allows the tablet to be held at multiple angles

Record 522K migrants arrive in Europe by sea in 2015

 

A record 522,124 migrants and refugees have arrived in Europe by sea this year, the International Organization for Migration said Tuesday Sep 29,2015

 The number is more than double the previous high set only last year.

Of the estimated number of migrants who made the hazardous journey by sea, 388,000 arrived in Greece and 130,891 in Italy.

They hail from countries that include Syria, Eritrea, Somalia, Sudan and Bangladesh, the IOM said.

Last year, 219,000 migrants and refugees escaping war and poverty sailed to Europe.

Apart from a fixed annuity, some insurers offer you the alternative of an increasing annuity, which rises by 3-5 per cent every year. 

The increase is not compounded and is calculated at simple rates. It is too small to really shield you against inflation

Investing ₹10 lakh in the 3 per cent increasing annuity from LIC for instance, will start you at a monthly income of about ₹6,000, which will rise by ₹180 every year. But while increasing annuity plans are intended to protect you from inflation 

A third choice you will have to make is between a single annuity and a joint/or survivor annuity. If you have dependents in your family, such as your spouse, you can opt for a joint or survivor plan, where the surviving member will continue to be paid lifelong annuity, on death of one member. 

 

Last date for filing of tax returns for corporate assessees and also their tax audit reports Wednesday Sep 30,2015

The Income-Tax Department on Monday Sep 28,2015 said that the Government has not extended the last date for filing of returns and audit report due by September 30,2015

The last date for filing of tax returns for corporate assessees and also their tax audit reports continue to be September 30, the income tax department has said. 

''The circulation of Fake order dated 26.9.2015 for extension of due date for filing of Audit report and return of Income for Assessment Year 2015-16 is fraudulent. The Government has not extended the due date for filing of returns and audit report due by 30th September 2015," the release added.

Australia leads world in household solar panel installations

 

Australia has the highest rate of household solar panel installation in the world, according to a new report from the Energy Supply Association of Australia.

"We're clearly leading the world in rooftop solar," said the association's chief executive, Matthew Warren.
"There's literally daylight [coming in] second."
The report found about 15 per cent of Australian homes had solar panels.
"The country that's nearest to us is Belgium with about 7 per cent and most other countries are in low single digits, so we're kind of pioneering the experiment of rooftop solar and the world is watching," Mr Warren said.
Installation rates are highest in South Australia and Queensland, and in some Brisbane and Adelaide suburbs more than half of all homes have solar panels.

INS Kochi - India's New and Deadliest Warship

INS Kochi, India's latest stealth warship, commissioned

INS Kochi was commissioned on Wednesday Sep 30,2015 by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai.

Designed by the Navy's in-house organisation, Directorate of Naval Design, and constructed by Mazagon Dock Ship builders Ltd in Mumbai, the ship is christened after the vibrant port city of Kochi.

With a displacement of 7,500 tons, the majestic ship spanning 164 metres in length and 17 metres at the beam, is propelled by four gas turbines and designed to achieve speeds in excess of 30 knots.

The ship has a complement of about 40 officers and 350 sailors. The accommodation and living spaces have been designed with special emphasis on ergonomics and habitability.

Former FIFA Vice-President Jack Warner banned for life from football activities Friday September 25,2015

 

Former Fifa vice-president Jack Warner has been banned for life by the organisation's ethics committee

A Fifa statement read: "The adjudicatory chamber of the Ethics Committee, chaired by Hans-Joachim Eckert, has decided to ban the former FIFA Vice-President and Executive Committee member as well as CONCACAF President, Mr Jack Warner, from taking part in any kind of football-related activity at national and international level for life.
"The decision was taken on the basis of investigations carried out by the investigatory chamber of the Ethics Committee following its report on the inquiry into the 2018/2022 FIFA World Cup bidding process

"The chairman of the investigatory chamber of the Ethics Committee, Dr Cornel Borbély, who took over the chairmanship from his predecessor in late December 2014, immediately opened the investigation into Mr Warner’s activities in January 2015.
"Mr Warner was found to have committed many and various acts of misconduct continuously and repeatedly during his time as an official in different high-ranking and influential positions at FIFA and CONCACAF. 
"In his positions as a football official, he was a key player in schemes involving the offer, acceptance, and receipt of undisclosed and illegal payments, as well as other money-making schemes."

Jack Warner’s ban is effective from September 25,2015, and comes as Fifa’s ethics committee examines evidence that could lead to the suspension of Blatter and Michel Platini over a £1.3m suspected criminal payment to the UEFA president.
