Sleeping on Jupiter has received glowing reviews for its attempt at exposing the hypocrisies of Indian society, while Sahota has been praised for his tale of Indian migrant workers living in Britain.
The judges were struck by the international spectrum of the novels, with the longlist also featuring British writers, American writers and writers from the Republic of Ireland, New Zealand, Nigeria and Jamaica.
Marlon James, who currently lives in Minneapolis, is the first Jamaican-born author to be nominated and Laila Lalami, based in Santa Monica but born in Rabat, is the first Moroccan-born who made to the list.
There are three debut novelists on the list with Bill Clegg's Did You Ever Have a Family, Chigozie Obioma's The Fishermen and Anna Smaill's The Chimes.
Others are, former Booker winner, Anne Enright is long-listed for The Green Road, British writers Tom McCarthy for Satin Island and Andrew O'Hagan for The Illuminations.
US author Marilynne Robinson is long-listed for Lila, Anne Tyler for A Spool of Blue Thread and Hanya Yanagihara for A Little Life.
The shortlist of six will be announced on September 15 at the Man Group offices in London and the 2015 winner will be declared at the annual gala ceremony at London's Guildhall on October 13,2015
The prize was historically limited to authors from the U.K., the Commonwealth, Ireland and Zimbabwe; this is only the second year that it has been open to anyone writing in the English language and published in the U.K. The longlist includes five American authors, up from four last year.
One author on the list, Anne Enright, has already won a Man Booker Prize for her 2007 novel The Gathering.
Tom McCarthy, Andrew O’Hagan and Marilynne Robinson have all previously been shortlisted
This year’s roundup also includes three debut novels, from Bill Clegg, Chigozie Obioma and Anna Smaill.

Bangladesh and India prepared on Friday July 31,2015 to swap tiny areas of land, ending one of the world's most intractable border disputes that has kept thousands of people in stateless limbo for nearly 70 years.
Officials of two nations will hoist their respective national flags in 162 enclaves - 111 in Bangladesh and 51 in India - at one minute past midnight (1801 GMT Friday) to assume sovereignty over the territories following a historic border pact in June 2015 Following the flag hoisting, the enclaves - pockets of one country's territory surrounded by the other - will cease to exist and more than 50,000 people who have been living there can now access citizenship benefits such as schools, power and healthcare that they have lacked since 1947. The enclaves date back to ownership arrangements made centuries ago between local princes.
The parcels of land survived partition of the subcontinent in 1947 after British rule and Bangladesh's 1971 war of independence with Pakistan. Bangladesh endorsed a deal with India in 1974 in a bid to dissolve the pockets, but India only signed a final agreement in June 2015 when Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Dhaka India has sanctioned a Rs 3,048-crore package for rehabilitation of the people affected by the exchange of enclaves under the LBA implementation.Between July 31, 2015 and June 30, 2016, the entire process, including physical exchange of enclaves and land parcels in adverse possession along with boundary demarcation, is expected to be completed.
Yahoo launches Livetext: A video messaging app, minus the audio
Like Apple's FaceTime, Google Hangouts or Skype, Yahoo Livetext uses a smartphone's front-facing camera to establish a live video connection between callers, but rather than talk, users text each other.

Livetext arrives at a time when messaging apps have never been more popular. On Wednesday, Facebook revealed that WhatsApp has 800 million active users and Facebook Messenger 700 million. And while WhatsApp doesn't currently support video calling, both apps enable voice calls as well as text messaging and video and image sharing.

1993 Mumbai blasts convict Yakub Memon Hanged ThursdayJuly 30,2015
Hours before his death, a 3-Judge SC bench headed by Justice Dipak Misra started hearing plea for deferring Yakub’s execution at 3.20 am but ruled he was given enough opportunities.
"It will be travesty of justice if the death warrant is stayed in a case of this nature," the court said at 4.55 am.
Earlier in the day, the same bench of the SC upheld the validity of Yakub’s death warrant, saying he had exhausted all options
Yakub Memon became only the third person – all terrorists – to be executed in the last decade after 26/11 convict Ajmal Kasab in 2012 and Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru in 2013
In the past 10 years, India has executed 4 people.In 2004, Dhananjoy Chatterjee was hanged in West Bengal for raping and murdering a teenager. In 2012: Ajmal Kasab was hanged in Pune's Yerwada jail for his role in the 26/11 terror attacks. In 2013, Afzal Guru, a convict in the 2001 Parliament attack was hanged in Delhi's Tihar jail. In 2015, Yakub Memon was hanged in Nagpur jail for role in 1993 Mumbai blasts case.
Yakub Memon was sentenced to death for the dozen explosions that rocked India’s financial capital, killing 257 people and leaving more than 700 injured.
Yakub Memon denied any involvement in the blasts during a staggered trial and appeal process that bitterly divided opinion and triggered calls for his life to be spared.
Jail administration handed over Yakub’s body to his elder brother, Suleiman and cousin, Usman Memon, around 9.30am after the family gave an undertaking that they would not hold demonstrations with the body and ensure a quiet burial in Mumbai.
After finishing all formalities, Suleiman and Usman took custody of the body and left for the Nagpur airport by 9.45am, local jail authorities confirmed. The body was taken to Mumbai for burial by a service flight.
His body reached landed in Mumbai around 12.10pm but the police banned filming or taking photographs of the body during transportation from the airport to the burial ground to avoid any breach of law and order.
Yakub Memon's body was taken directly to Bismillah Manzil in Mahim where his brother Suleiman Memon lives.
A crowd of around 500 persons had gathered outside the building as soon as the ambulance carrying Yakub’s body arrived in the area, and the entire scene was constantly monitored by plain clothes policemen.

full military honours at his hometown Rameswaram.
The mortal remains of
the former president, who died on Monday July 27,2015, were taken from his ancestral
house to the local mosque ahead of the funeral.
More than one lakh people from all age groups had gathered in the island town to pay last respects.
Thousands of mourners kept pouring through the night by various
transport including buses, trains and boats to attend the last rites.
Several even slept on the roads on Wednesday night to be able to be a
part of his final journey.
Shops, business establishments and hotels remained shut in the town and throughout Tamil Nadu as a mark of respect to the late leader fondly called the "People's President"

World Day Against Trafficking in Persons - July 30
The Plan calls for integrating the fight against human trafficking into the UN’s broader programmes in order to boost development and strengthen security worldwide. One of the crucial provisions in the Plan is the establishment of a UN Voluntary Trust Fund for victims of trafficking, especially women and children.
