IAAF Diamond League Athletics Meet

 

The IAAF Diamond League is an annual series of Track and Field Meet held from 2010 onwards, replacing the IAAF Golden League, which was held annually since 1998

Scoring System 

Each one of the thirty-two disciplines (sixteen for male athletes, sixteen for females) is staged a total of seven times during the season. The top three athletes at each meeting are awarded points, and in the case of the Final meeting of the discipline the points are doubled.

1st place: 4 points (Final: 8 points)
2nd place: 2 points (Final: 4 points)
3rd place: 1 points (Final: 2 points)
The athlete with the highest number of points in each discipline at the end of the season wins "The Diamond Race"

Rupee Gains 225 paise with Reserve Bank help Thursday Aug 29,2013

From a record low of 68.85 per dollar on Wednesday Aug 28,2013 when the currency posted its biggest single-day percentage fall since October 1995,the rupee rose as high as 66.85 per dollar shortly after the open and gained 3.46 % to close at 66.55/56 a dollar on Thursday Aug 29,2013

The Rupee recovery is partly due to the RBI stepping in to handle the dollar requirements of refiners instead of dealing with it in the spot market

Mirroring the turnaround in rupee, stock markets on Thursday Aug 29,2013 soared with the S&P BSE benchmark Sensex logging its best gain in a week of nearly 405 points to end at 18,401.04 on across-the-board buying after RBI opened a special window to help PSU oil firms meet daily forex needs

National Stock Exchange index Nifty rose by 124.05 points, or 2.35 per cent, to end at 5,409.05 led by stocks of refinery, metal and FMCG sectors on Thursday Aug 29,2013

GSAT-7,Indian Military Communications Satellite Launched Friday Aug 30,2013

GSAT-7, the country's first advanced and full-fledged Military Communications Satellite, was launched in the early hours of Friday Aug 30,2013 from the Kourou space port of French Guiana space in South America. The multi-band spacecraft, to be used exclusively by Indian Navy, was put in orbit on a European Ariane 5 rocket at 2 a.m., Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) said

GSAT-7/ INSAT-4F is expected to significantly improve the country’s maritime security and intelligence gathering in a wide swathe on either coasts of the Indian Ocean region

GSAT-7  is exclusively meant for the armed forces, primarily Indian Navy

About 34 minutes after take-off, Ariane-5 placed the spacecraft precisely in the intended temporary oval or geosynchronous transfer orbit (GTO) in space

Arianespace, the launch service company, said GSAT-7 was the 17th ISRO satellite to be lifted to space on its Ariane vehicle. Its vehicle for Friday, VA215, released the national satellite minutes after a 6-tonne Qatar satellite called EUTELSAT 25B/Es’hail 1. ISRO first used an Ariane launcher for its 1981 experimental satellite named APPLE.

Akkineni Nagarjuna was born to veteran actor Nageswara Rao Akkineni and Annapurna Akkineni, in Chennai on August 29, 1959

Nagarjuna is a mechanical engineer and also holds an M Sc (Automobile Engineering) from Eastern Michigan University

acted as a child artist in the film ''Sudigundalu''(1967)at the age of 8

made his debut as a lead actor with the film''Vikram''(1986)directed by V Madhusudhana Rao

Mani Ratnam's Geethanjali (1989), a love story, which made him a star

In 1984, Nagarjuna married Lakshmi Daggubati, sister of Telugu actor Venkatesh and daughter of renowned film producer Dr D Ramanaidu. They have a son called Naga Chaitanya Akkineni, who is a successful Telugu actor himself. Their marriage lasted for six years and the two were divorced in 1990
