Roger Federer continued his fairytale comeback run in 2017 by winning his third Miami Open title as he beat arch rival Rafael Nadal 6-3, 6-4 in the final on an extremely hot and humid day.

The loss is Nadal's fifth in a final in Miami and this remains one tournament that the Spaniard is yet to win.

Federer, who beat Nadal in the 2017 Australian Open final and also at the 2017 Indian Wells Masters, has now beaten Nadal in four straight matches for the first time in his career. The Spaniard though still holds a massive career head-to-head advantage of 23-14 over the Swiss.
The 18-time tennis major winner made the first break of the match in the eighth game of the first set, after 45 minutes. Federer's forehand was working like magic and made the most of it by pushing Nadal to the baseline and eventually managed to force Rafa to make an error to go up 5-3.
He was clinical with his serve in the next game and won the first set 6-3 in 48 minutes.
Both players made a strong start to the second set and things were on serve till the eighth game. Nadal though survived a scare in the seventh game of the second set as he made a comeback by saving a break point twice to hold his serve.
But he wasn't so lucky on his next serve as Federer broke Nadal's resistance to go up 5-4 and then went on to close out the match by taking the second set 6-4.
The victory gave Federer his 91st ATP title and it was also his 26th Masters title.

Federer thanked his team for helping him make a great comeback and also congratulated Nadal for his comeback to the circuit as well.
Nadal on the other hand congratulated Federer for his amazing run this year and hoped that he would someday win the title in Miami.
