Simona Halep beat Madison Keys 7-6 (7/2), 6-3 to win the WTA Montreal hardcourt tournament Sunday July 31,2016

Simona Halep(Romania) beat a mistake-prone Madison Keys 7-6 (7/2), 6-3 on Sunday  July 31,2016 to win the WTA Montreal hardcourt tournament and claim her 14th career singles crown.

World No 5 Simona Halep has now won 23 of her last 26 matches, a stretch that has included lifting titles in Madrid, Bucharest and now Montreal.

"It was not my best tennis because I couldn't play my best tennis," Halep said. "I cannot hit stronger than her because she's very strong.

"I tried just to keep the ball away from her and to make her run.

"I think I did it pretty well, and she missed shots. It was really tough for me to hit winners today."

Supreme Court of India(SCI) Rules that Ex-CMs Not Entitled for Govt Accommodation For Lifetime

The Supreme Court of India (SCI)has ruled that former chief ministers are not entitled to government accommodation and that they should vacate within two months of remitting office.

Ruling on a petition filed by NGO Lok Prahari, the apex court ordered six former CMs of Uttar Pradesh, including Mulayam Singh Yadav and Mayawati to vacate their official bungalows.

Rajnath Singh, ND Tiwari and Kalyan Singh, who were earlier chief ministers of UP, are also among those ordered to vacate government-allotted bungalows.

A bench headed by Justice Anil R Dave, which pronounced its verdict on a 2004 plea, said that any such government accommodation should be vacated within two to three months."They don't have the right to occupy government accommodation for  lifetime," the bench said.

The judgment came on a plea filed by a UP-based NGO Lok Prahari, which had sought a direction against allotment of government bungalows to ex-CMs and other "non-eligible" organisations.

The NGO had alleged that despite the direction of Allahabad High Court, the UP government had framed ex-Chief Minister's Residence Allotment Rules, 1997 (non-statutory) for allotting bungalows to successive ex-chief ministers
.
The NGO had also contended that the rules framed in 1997 for allotment of government bungalows to ex-chief ministers were unconstitutional and illegal, and those occupying them were allegedly unauthorised occupants under the purview of the UP Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorised Occupants) Act.

The petitioner also said that retention of government accommodation by chief ministers after demitting office was against the Provisions of UP Ministers (Salaries/allowances and other facilities) Act.

The judgment on the plea was reserved on November 27, 2014.

Masooma Muradi, the Sole Afghan Woman Governor In a Man's World

Surrounded by male advisors and condescending "mansplainers", Masooma Muradi holds her own against a deep underswell of sexism in a society unaccustomed to women exercising authority.

Breaking new ground as Afghanistan's only female governor, Muradi's ascent to the top post in remote Daikundi province is a remarkable feat in Afghanistan, where stubborn patriarchal traditions are at odds with progressive ideas about a woman's place in the world.

But barely a year after President Ashraf Ghani appointed Muradi, her job hangs by a thread, with growing calls for her ouster from religious conservatives and opponents. It highlights the travails of being the only woman in an overwhelmingly male preserve.

"People claim to be open-minded but many cannot bear having a woman in this position," Muradi, 37, told, sinking into an overstuffed sofa in her office in the capital Nili.

"I won't allow men to hush me up...society is not used to that from a woman," she added.

Glenn Maxwell averaged just two from three games while in the Caribbean, he managed only 53 runs in five games at an average of just over 17.

Scott Boland, who made his debut in the India series at the start of 2016, has not had a good start to his international career, managing just seven wickets from eight ODI games.
