The Amarinder Singh led Congress Government in Punjab, in its first cabinet meeting on Saturday March 18,2017 , has decided to constitute a Special Task Force (STF) to eliminate the drug menace from the state.
As part of the crackdown on the drug menace, a key pre-poll promise of the Congress, the state government is also looking at bringing an ordinance that will pave way for the confiscation of the ill-gotten wealth of drug dealers by the authorities.
"Punjab cabinet decided to set up a Special Task Force (STF) in the Chief Minister's office to prepare and implement a comprehensive programme to eliminate drugs from the state, as promised by the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) in its election manifesto," an official spokesman said
