Sri Lanka's Lakshan Sandakan is the only other left-arm wristspinner to play Tests for an Asian country.

India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has added another feather to his already illustrious cap. The off-spinner has now shattered South Africa paceman Dale Steyn's record of most number of Test wickets taken in a season.
Steyn picked up 78 wickets in the 2007/08 season, which was equalled by Ashwin with the dismissal of Glenn Maxwell during the second innings of the Ranchi Test.

However, on the opening day of the fourth and the final Test in Dharamsala, Ashwin removed centurion Steven Smith to surpass Steyn and take his tally to 79 for the season. Interestingly, Ashwin's record-breaking wicket also became a first for an Aussie captain.
Earlier, during the first Test of the series against Australia in Pune, Ashwin has broken Kapil Dev's (63) record of most number of wickets by an Indian in a home season, which the legendary all-rounder set in 1979/80.

At close of play India were 0/0 with K L Rahul  00* and Murali Vijay 00* at the crease
